Water and Sewer Bill Assistance from the Community Council of South Texas

City of Jourdanton Mayor Robert Williams received confirmation from Carol Delgado, Community Services Program Director, Community Council of South Central Texas, Inc. (CCSCT) of the availability of up to $1 million dollars in state funding to help City of Jourdanton residents with water and sewer utility bills.

Per Ken Loy, Program Manager, “if current program applicants already have a voucher from CCSCT and if they have an April 2023 disconnection notice we can help them pay it.”

City Manager Bobby J. Martinez affirmed: “100% of the City of Jourdanton water utility late fees, disconnect fees as well as disconnections were temporarily waived for the months of January and February to help residents experiencing higher than normal water utility bills associated with the city’s conversion to the more accurate SMART meters- which are more accurate in calculating actual water consumption.”

He added: “Customers can self-monitor their daily water use particularly, if they suspect they may have a water leak i.e., a leaking toilet or dripping faucet which can increase monthly water use by more than 3,000 gallons per month. Water utility customers can download the Master Meter Inc. offered My Water Advisor 2.0 App to see daily water use. Afterwards, any utility billing questions can be directed to utilitybilling@jourdantontexas.org .

Carol Delgado added: “we would like to help as many people as possible. Anyone that receives SNAP (Food Stamps), TANF, or SSI automatically qualifies for assistance. Other can qualify based on their income.”
