City of Jourdanton Officials Seek FUNDING for Streets from Congressman Cuellar
Mayor Robert Williams, Mayor Pro-Tem Chester Gonzalez, Councilmember Ortiz, and City Manager Bobby J Martinez attended Congressman Cuellar’s San Antonio District Office Open House on Monday July 24, 2023.
While the Open House invitation was offered to the entire city council the three Councilmembers felt their attendance was an occasion to personally advocate for funding for streets and other city infrastructure needs.
Given the Congressman’s Open House is considered a social event- not an official meeting- like the Texas Municipal League meetings several councilmembers and City Managers from Atascosa and Wilson County neighboring cities also joined the Jourdanton City Council.
The Councilmembers and the City Manager independently approached the Congressman about the city of Jourdanton’s infrastructure needs which include but are not limited to street maintenance and repairs which have been neglected since the 1991 Master Plan first identified the unsatisfactory street conditions. Meanwhile, an engineering firm has been contracted by the City Manager to being a process of repairing our streets.
Congressman Cuellar personally offered Mayor Williams and City Manager Bobby Martinez an invitation to have a follow up meeting.
